With the end of another rolling summer comes the ever awaited easter weekend, a four day holiday where we take time to spend with our families, run wild with our friends and catch up on some much needed me time. Easter is a time period where our health journeys and eating habits can be shoved aside in favour of warm gooey hot cross buns, chocolate eggs to fill our bellies and ginormous helpings of roasts that our families ensure we eat.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for over indulging during holiday periods ! And I sure did down quite a few chocolates, but sometimes when that next week rolls around and its time to get back to the grind of our daily lives, we can often feel sluggish and unmotivated. Here’s ten fun and exciting workout/fitness ideas to get you off of the couch !
1 - PADDLEBOARDING

To ease yourself back into a fitness regime without even feeling like you’re working out, try paddle boarding. This relaxing and enjoyable fitness activity will help you to breathe in the stillness of the water, and gather your thoughts for the day away from technology and the social world.
2 - BOXING

Chuck on some upbeat music, strap on a pair of boxing gloves and get moving! This fast paced and eccentric workout is sure to make you sweat, and will make you feel like a total badass. Try throwing two hits and then stepping forward and swinging around with your other arm for a starting sequence!
3 - AERIAL YOGA

Aerial Yoga may be one of the most beautiful arts that we’ve ever seen, usually in aerial yoga you’re suspended from flowing material, and you’re taught to make some of the most beautiful (and photo worthy!) poses imaginable. If you’re unsure where to try this, there are aerial yoga studios across most cities
4 - SURFING

It may be the beginning of autumn, but that doesn’t mean surf waves aren’t pumping at all of the beaches, hire a wetsuit and surfboard from your local surf shop if you don’t already have one and paddle out to the waves. If you’re a beginner, surf lessons are taught weekly by surf schools everywhere!
5 - CYCLING

Don’t want to take a spin class? Don’t think that you can ride next to moving traffic? You don’t have to. Grab a few hire bikes and make this exercise into an outing as well, reach out to some friends and spend your day exploring your city on a bike - it won’t even feel like a workout!
6 - ROCK CLIMBING

Don’t think that when we say the words ‘rock climbing’ we’re implying a daunting 3 day climb up a gigantic rockside. Rock climbing is a fantastic way to let out steam and build not only teamwork between you and the person holding your rope, but also determination, and to give you the addicting sense of a challenge.
7 - DANCING

You can choose from more than just one style of dancing, and trust me, its a guaranteed way to burn some extra calories! Grasp onto the beat and tackle a fast paced jazz class, or take it down a notch and try a just as powerful barre class.
8 - WATER AEROBICS

Water aerobics is one of the funnest workouts that I’ve ever tried. The resistance of the water against your movements and the fun upbeat environment that you get to workout in is one of a kind. Use water weight and your own body weight to work your muscles and leave with a smile
9 - PILATES

Work every muscle in your body with this dynamic workout, use a reformer or simply listen to an instructor and push the level of reps which you can achieve and reach those #bodygoals! Pilates will help to elongate, strengthen and work your muscles, and you’ll certainly feel it the next morning
10 - HIKING

When making a list of the best workout ideas, you’d be crazy to leave hiking off of the list. This is the ultimate way to experience both an intense workout, and an amazing feeling of achievement when you finish. Mix that together with the beauty of nature and the vitamin D from the sun, and you have a crazy winner.
